My Capstone Project

My capstone project focused on the Paragon (social studies/humanities) curriculum at my school. More specifically, I selected specific objectives for our unit on westward movement in 18th century America.  This project focused on cultural underpinnings for westward migration in 19th century America.  In this project, I sought to determine if the use of WebQuests, an inquiry based online learning lesson, would help students master these objectives.

What is the Capstone Project?

The capstone project is a self directed project which is generally a part of the last course taken in the Master's of Education program at the University of Maryland University College. My capstone project was done under the leadership of Dr. Theodore Stone. The project is a culmination of skills learned about instructional technology throughout the program.

The TIP Model

The Technology Integration Planning (TIP) model, is described by Dr. M.D. Roblyer in her text, Integrating Technology into Teaching (2006).
1. Determine the relative advantage
2. Decide on objectives and objectives
3. Design integration strategies
4. Prepare the instructional environment
5. Evaluate and revise integration strategies
